     Current
     research
I work in the Waves, Vortices and Turbulence Research Group, with Prof. David Dritschel, and Dr. Oliver Bühler, in the  NERC funded project ``A new approach to modelling internal waves in the ocean''. The other members in our group are Dr. Ali Mohebalhojeh, Dr. Jean Reinaud, Mr. William McKiver, Prof. Alex D. D. Craik and Dr. Graham E. Bell

The general purpose of this project is to understand the generation and behaviour of internal waves in the ocean by means of the analysis of potential vorticity, the use of ray tracing theory, and the development of numerical simulations.

      Other
      research
      interests
  • Theoretical work on basic aspects in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics.
  • Numerical and experimental work concerning the balance of horizontal momentum, computation of the vertical velocity in the ocean, and hydrographic data assimilation in numerical models of the ocean.
  • Experimental work on the dynamics of the upper ocean with emphasis on the circulation in the Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean).
